Design Intent
The Till Lounge Chair reimagines tubular steel through the lens of nature. Its steel arm rises like a stem supporting its leaves, gently holding the oak seat and back in a balance of strength and lightness.
With the Till Lounge Chair, Noknok Studio set out to transform steel, often perceived as rigid and cold, into something soft, light, and livable. The design draws inspiration from the logic of nature, particularly the way a single stem branches outward to support individual leaves with an effortless sense of balance. This idea is expressed through a tubular structure that breaks into distinct supporting elements, creating a composition that feels open and breathable. A single steel plate anchors the chair at its base, allowing the form to feel as though
it rises naturally from the ground. The tubular frame holds the oak seat and back like a leaf or petal, introducing warmth against the steel. The accompanying ottoman extends this language, mirroring the chair’s structure while offering a more relaxed seating experience. More than a direct imitation of nature, Till reflects the broader philosophy of designers Eika Weber and Vincent Zigarelli: to observe the beauty in everyday forms and reinterpret them into objects that carry a distinct presence, pieces that feel both familiar and entirely new.
